Bianca K’s Success Story
I felt sick all the time, and I always had a stomach ache or a headache.
It was hard to travel because I was so out of shape and I would be in pain from walking around all day. I felt like I was wasting our time in Europe (where we are living for a couple of years) because we had to plan our trips around me and what my body could handle.
My poor health especially hit hard when my husband and I wanted to try to start a family and my doctor told me it would be risky and that I should lose weight first. I had given up and had started the process to get a gastric sleeve. I had met with a nutritionist twice and was getting ready to meet with the surgeon when I came across Kym’s 30 Day Challenge.
During the challenge I canceled my appointment and haven’t thought about it since.
My biggest motivation for change was and still is, starting a family with my husband. It was upsetting that I wasn’t ovulating at all and I felt bad that my body wasn’t ready to start trying for a baby. That was why I then signed up for Kym’s Beat PCOS 10 Week Program.
The 10 week program definitely got me more active again which I enjoyed – the exercise videos were great. I continued to follow Kym’s guidelines and eliminated dairy, grains, processed foods and sugar. I stuck to no more than 2 servings of fruit a day and on the rare occasion I had coffee, I no longer added sugar to it and instead blended it with fat and cinnamon. I also learned to properly portion my carbs which I now mostly get from sweet potatoes and quinoa. Thanks to Kym’s audio lessons, which I listened to before bed, I learned so much and it all just makes so much sense now.
The most helpful thing for me though was the recipe index. Trying new recipes is always fun for me and cooking is my biggest hobby. I loved the recipes!
My health is so much better now. I stopped taking medication and I have had a regular period every month since. I ovulate which is super exciting and I am down 30 pounds so far!
Update: After this story was posted Bianca fell pregnant naturally! When I last checked in on her she was 34 weeks along and having an incredibly healthy pregnancy.
My skin looks so much better and I am still just as motivated as I was when I first started! My resting heart rate went down and my liver doesn’t feel tender or in pain anymore (fatty liver).
I felt so much better on a recent adventure with my husband. Unlike previous trips, I was able to try some foods without getting a belly ache and I had a ton of energy. We practically ran up this mountain to see a waterfall because we were limited on time and I just did amazing. I couldn’t believe how good I felt. I felt like myself again and I had missed her!
Besides the fact that I now enjoy veggies, one of the biggest things that changed as a result of Kym’s 30 Day Challenge and the 10 Week Program is that I don’t feel like I have to diet anymore. I just feel so in-sync with my body. I can listen to it and know what food it needs. Instead of thinking, “oh that will taste amazing” I think, “how is that going to affect my body?” This is my life now. I eat healthy and I make delicious foods that truly satisfies me.
Your taste buds really do change over time. Fruit is plenty sweet for example. I can’t imagine ever adding sugar to something again! I think now more than ever, I put ME first and I don’t feel bad about it. I have learned to invest in my health and have made it my number one priority. I have gotten so much positive feedback on my instagram, @beary_balanced and it really keeps me going. I have decided to go back to school for nutrition because it really has become a passion.
I would still like to lose at least another 30lbs. However unlike my past weight loss goals, I am in no rush. My main focus is being healthy and I know the weight will come off eventually. I do want to get more into yoga and lifting weights and am already working on that. I plan to just keep doing what I’m doing!
I was in the biggest rut and have struggled with a bad relationship with food my whole life, until now.
As cliche as it may sound, if I can do it, anyone can. So invest in yourself!
