How I Lost Weight and Overcame My PCOS

I had been made fun of for years (since kindergarten) in regards to being overweight, moody, hairy etc… So I honestly didn’t know anything different than “the struggle”.
My biggest motivation for wanting to get my PCOS under control was my attitude against my body. I’m too young to hate my body. I wanted to get in control and embrace who I am. It was time to start creating new habits, so I set out to find new answers on my own and a few months later discovered Kym and her 30 Day Challenge. It was perfect timing.
I did her Challenge and then joined her 10 Week Program which compiled so much research that it really helped me understand PCOS. I have never seen a doctor that had all of this information and it was really enlightening. I loved her supplements guide too, because again, I haven’t had a doctor who has helped. Thanks to Kym’s delicious easy to follow recipes, I have a new love for cooking. I also really appreciated the support group aspect. I knew many women with PCOS, but to have so many women of all ages, who were open about their symptoms, normalized the experience for me.
During Kym’s 10 Week Program I learned what my body was struggling to do and how to help it. I began listening more so I could be more intentional in response to hunger, and my emotions. I went dairy free, corn free, gluten free, and soy free. I dramatically reduced my sugar intake and I began exercising more often. Most importantly though, following Kym’s advice, I started being nicer to myself.
In the 12 months following the 30 Day Challenge and 10 Week Program I have lost 30 lbs. I also sleep normal hours which is such a relief as insomnia was always a major problem for me. I think clearer, my mood is more stable, and my confidence is stronger than ever.
Six months into my healthy new lifestyle I went off birth control for the first time in 13 years because I wanted to see how my body had changed and to see if I could naturally change my cycle with what I had learned. I got my period four times in the first six months. While still a work in progress, this is so much better than before when I could go six months between periods.
As I continue to work on my symptoms I am now focused on building muscle mass. I have been going to the gym, and I plan on doing a photoshoot soon which is something I have wanted to do for years. I am finally confident enough in my body to capture it on film!
I have already told just about EVERY woman I have talked to about this program and to anyone thinking about giving it a try, I’d say “go for it”. I hope it changes your life as it did mine!
